Inspired by AGO’s ‘Illusions The Art of Magic’ exhibit, Houdini’s actual straight-jacket. It was beautiful - the distressed leather and worn canvas. I thought about how many times he was able to escape it. It became one of his most famous tricks. The straight-jacket holds immense stigma for being used as a restraint in psychiatric wards. Creating it helped when reflecting upon my ongoing mental health journey.
